"RECOVERY: The Economics of Reopening" Takeaways
Attendees of the 9/23 virtual event received some much-needed positive news regarding where we are in the country's recovery and how it's affecting our markets, employment and how businesses are now operating.
Marci McGregor, Managing Director and Senior Investment Strategist for Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, shared positive news that is driving our economic recovery including: the healthcare sector's growth (R&D, devices & equipment plus technology) being a major force; the existence of a housing 'boom'; localization of many supply chains which is growing our manufacturing sector; high degree of consumer confidence and a Federal Reserve that has stated it will keep interest rates low until 2023. McGregor noted that some of these trends had begun before the pandemic but have accelerated since. One note of caution was the increase in cybersecurity threats that are up 400%. Workforces disbursed from safer corporate systems to home-based, less secure networks are vulnerable to more predatory activities.
Look for the upcoming interview with Marci McGregor in Raleigh Magazine soon.
