The long delayed, much reported-on and commented upon Six Forks Corridor Plan was adopted unanimously by City Council on Tuesday June 5th after a public hearing. With several of the controversial land use amendments gone, the roadway project received the support needed for adoption. Over the next six months city staff will be preparing an RFP for design and engineering work required for the plan's implementation. Although the bulk of the project's funding was earmarked and approved in the 2017 Transportation bond, this early design/engineering work funding was set aside in a 2016 budget.
