As early as this week event venues like Midtown's The Ritz and activity centers like KINGS Dining & Entertainment can apply for up to $20k from a new pool of funds made available by the NC Dept. of Commerce. Additionally eligible to apply are bars, bowling alleys, museums, theatres and amusement parks. The Mortgage, Utilities, and Rent Relief "MURR" program requires applicants to have been closed from 4/1 - 7/31, and to have paid their rent and utilities in order to request the grant. A Governor's order March 17 forced many entertainment centers to close, sending thousands to the unemployment offices and decimating most of that industry.
